Preparing the Patties

Mixing Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix with your hands until just combined. Avoid over mixing to keep the patties juicy.

Shaping Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Flipping and Finishing
Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Toasting the Buns
While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Adding Toppings
Once the patties are done, place each patty onto the bottom half of the toasted buns. Top with lettuce, sliced tomato, and pickles. Finally, place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
