Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the baby-back ribs.

  3. 3

    Bake the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet and cover them with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.

  4. 4

    Add Barbecue Sauce

Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the foil. Brush the barbecue sauce generously over the ribs.

  5. 5

    Broil the Ribs

Turn on the broiler and place the ribs back in the oven. Broil for 5-10 minutes until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Making the Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the russet potatoes. Boil until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, sour cream, and chives. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt to taste.

Preparing the Applesauce

  1. 8

    Cook the Apples

Peel, core, and chop the apples. In a saucepan, combine chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  2. 9

    Simmer the Mixture

Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.

  3. 10

    Mash or Blend

Mash the apples with a fork or use a blender for a smoother consistency. Let it cool before serving.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 11

    Prepare the Greens

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 12

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Drizzle over the salad just before serving and toss to combine.
