Prepare the Ingredients
Chop the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Mince the garlic cloves. Set aside.

Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion, bell peppers, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Marinara Sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir to combine.

Combine and Simmer
Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Stir in the chopped fresh parsley before serving.
