Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

  2. 2

    Cook Fettuccini

Add 12 oz of fettuccini pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain and Set Aside

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add 2 tsp of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Pour in Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  4. 7

    Add Parmesan Cheese

Whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 tsp of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine Fettuccini and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccini pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Sprinkle 2 tbs of chopped parsley on top for garnish.
