Toppings

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground Angus beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the burger patty on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place it on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patty is cooking, split the hamburger bun and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 6

    Layer the Toppings

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty, tomato slice, cheddar cheese (if using), pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
