Main Ingredients

Method

Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all your ingredients and ensure they are measured accurately for a smooth brewing process.

  2. 2

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring the 500 ml of water to a boil.

  3. 3

    Add Barley Malt

Once the water is boiling, add 200 g of barley malt to the pot and stir gently for 15 minutes to extract the sugars.

  4. 4

    Add Hops

After 15 minutes, add 30 g of hops to the mixture and boil for an additional 30 minutes. This adds bitterness and aroma to the beer.

  5. 5

    Cool the Mixture

Remove the pot from heat and cool the mixture quickly by placing it in an ice bath or allowing it to cool to room temperature.

  6. 6

    Transfer to Fermentation Vessel

Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a sanitized fermentation vessel, making sure to leave sediment behind.

  7. 7

    Add Yeast

Sprinkle the yeast packet over the top of the mixture in the fermentation vessel. Do not stir; let it rehydrate for 15 minutes.

  8. 8

    Ferment

Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock and place it in a dark, cool place for 1 to 2 weeks, allowing fermentation to occur.

  9. 9

    Bottling

After fermentation is complete, dissolve 50 g of sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer for carbonation. Bottle the beer using sanitized bottles.

  10. 10

    Condition

Cap the bottles and allow them to condition for 1 to 2 weeks at room temperature before refrigerating.

  11. 11

    Enjoy

Chill the beer and enjoy your homemade Weihenstephan-style brew!
