Sweetener & brightener

Method

Smoothie base

  1. 1

Measure and prepare fruit: pack 1 cup chopped ripe mango (about 1 small-medium mango) and 1/2 cup banana chunks. Using ripe fruit ensures natural sweetness and smooth texture.

  2. 2

Add fruit, yogurt, and milk to blender: place the mango, banana, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, and 1/2 cup milk into the blender jar.

Sweetener & brightener

  1. 3

Add sweetener and lime: pour in 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup) and 1 tsp fresh lime juice to balance sweetness and enhance mango flavor.

Ice & optional additions

  1. 4

Add ice and optional ingredients: add 1/2 cup ice cubes for a chilled, slightly frosty texture. If using, add 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp chia seeds now.

  2. 5

Blend until smooth: secure the lid and blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy with no large fruit pieces. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed.

  3. 6

Check consistency and adjust: if too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) more milk and blend briefly; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes or 2 tbsp extra yogurt and re-blend.

  4. 7

Taste and adjust sweetness: taste a small spoonful and add more honey/maple (up to 1 tsp more) or a pinch of salt if needed; blend briefly to incorporate any additions.

  5. 8

Serve: pour the smoothie into a 16 oz (about 480 ml) glass. Garnish if desired with a thin mango slice, sprinkle of chia seeds, or a lime wedge. Serve immediately.
