Tea

Sweetener (optional)

Method

Brew the Tea

  1. 1

    Heat water

Bring enough water to just under a full boil, then let it sit for 1–2 minutes so temperature is about 185–195°F (85–90°C). Measure 8 oz (approx. 235 ml) of this hot water for brewing.

  2. 2

    Steep

Place 2 tsp orchid oolong tea leaves in a teapot, infuser, or heatproof pitcher. Pour the 8 oz hot water over the leaves. Steep for 3–4 minutes for a balanced flavor (3 minutes for lighter floral notes, 4 minutes for a fuller body).

  3. 3

    Strain

After steeping, strain the tea leaves out into a heatproof vessel. If you want to avoid dilution, let the brewed tea cool 2–3 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Sweeten and Chill

  1. 4

While the tea is still slightly warm (but not piping hot), stir in 1 tablespoon simple syrup or 1 teaspoon honey until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste. If using honey, ensure tea is warm enough to dissolve it fully.

  2. 5

Allow the sweetened brewed tea to cool to room temperature (about 10–15 minutes), or place it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to speed cooling. Do not add ice yet to avoid over-dilution.

Assemble Iced Tea

  1. 6

Fill a 16 oz (about 2 cups) serving glass with 1 cup of ice (or to preference).

  2. 7

Pour the cooled brewed tea over the ice, filling roughly halfway (about 8 oz).

  3. 8

Top with 8 oz cold water to bring the total volume to 16 oz and to balance strength and temperature. Stir gently to combine.

Garnish and Serve

  1. 9

Garnish with an edible orchid petal or a thin citrus slice on the rim and a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
