Finishing & Baking
Method
Bread
- 1
Preheat and prepare loaf
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the baguette on a diagonal into 1-inch thick slices, stopping just before cutting through so the loaf holds together (or slice fully if you prefer pull-apart pieces). Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil.
Garlic Cream Cheese Spread
- 2
Soften and combine
Place the softened cream cheese and softened butter in a medium bowl. Using a fork or electric hand mixer on low, beat until smooth and homogenous, about 1–2 minutes.
- 3
Add flavorings
Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan, lemon zest (if using), salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until evenly incorporated. Taste and adjust salt or garlic to preference.
Assemble & Bake
- 4
Fill the loaf
Using a butter knife or small spatula, spread or tuck generous amounts of the garlic cream cheese mixture between the slices of the prepared loaf, making sure mixture gets into each cut. If you sliced fully, spread on each slice and re-stack if desired.

- 6
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12–16 minutes, until the spread is warmed through and the edges of the bread begin to turn golden. For a crispier top, switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes—watch closely to avoid burning.
- 7
Rest and serve
Remove from oven and let rest 2–3 minutes. Garnish with a little extra chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm, pulling apart slices or slicing through to serve individual pieces.
