Flavoring Ingredients
Method
Making the Base Syrup
Add Citric Acid
Once the sugar is dissolved, add 1 tsp of citric acid to the mixture. Stir well and remove from heat.
Cool the Syrup
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before moving on to the next steps.
Infusing the Flavor
Prepare Fresh Fruit
Wash and prepare your chosen fresh fruit. If using lemons, slice them thinly. If using berries, mash them slightly to release juices.
Combine with Syrup
In a large bowl, combine the cooled syrup with the prepared fresh fruit. Allow the mixture to sit for at least 30 minutes to infuse the flavors.
Add Vanilla and Mint
Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 cup of fresh mint leaves into the mixture. Allow to steep for an additional 15 minutes.
Straining and Storing
Strain the Mixture
Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into clean bottles, discarding the solids.
Store the Cordial
Seal the bottles tightly and store the cordial in the refrigerator. It can be enjoyed for up to two weeks.
