Method

Amaro Base

1

Taste and adjust (no-cook)

Averna is a finished bottled amaro and is typically served as-is. Combine 1 cup Averna with 1 cup water only if you prefer a slightly lighter, less-alcohol-forward pour. Pour measured Averna into a clean mixing vessel. Add the water and gently stir for 10–15 seconds to incorporate and slightly open the flavors. Do not heat; Averna is intended to be enjoyed at room temperature, chilled, or over ice.

Optional Serving / Garnish

For a classic serving, fill a rocks glass with 2–3 large ice cubes. Pour 2–3 oz (about 1/4–1/3 cup) of Averna (or Averna diluted to taste as prepared above) over the ice. Express the orange peel over the glass to release oils, run it around the rim, and drop it in as a garnish. Serve neat or with a splash of soda water if desired.
