Prepare the Vegetables
Chop the green and red bell peppers and mince the garlic. Set aside.

Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.

Combine Ingredients
Stir in the marinara sauce, fresh basil, oregano, thyme, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Stir occasionally.

Cook the Spaghetti
While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.

Combine and Serve
Remove the bay leaves from the sauce. Serve the spaghetti topped with the meat sauce. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
