Gumbo Pizza Ingredients

Method

Gumbo Pizza Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Roux

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and flour. Stir continuously until the mixture turns a deep brown color, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the roux. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add the Broth and Seasoning

Gradually add the vegetable broth while stirring. Add Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and cook for another 10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Proteins and Tomatoes

Stir in the andouille sausage, shrimp, crab meat, diced tomatoes, and sliced okra. Cook for 5 more minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Pizza Base

Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Pizza

Spread the gumbo mixture evenly over the pizza dough. Top with mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, and parmesan cheese.

  7. 7

    Bake the Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy your Gumbo Pizza!
