1

Prepare the glass

If you want a salted or spiced rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass then dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín. Set the glass aside.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add reposado tequila (2 oz), Grand Marnier (0.75 oz), amaretto (0.5 oz), fresh lime juice (0.75 oz) and simple syrup (0.25 oz) if you prefer slightly sweeter balance. Add enough ice to nearly fill the shaker (about 6 large ice cubes).

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the drink to proper balance.

4

Strain and serve

Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and/or fine mesh strainer) into the prepared glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice into the chilled coupe for a more concentrated presentation.

5

Garnish

Float or place a lime wheel or wedge on the rim or in the glass as garnish. Serve immediately.

6

Notes

Adjust simple syrup quantity to taste — the amaretto adds almond sweetness, while Grand Marnier adds orange sweetness and richness. Use quality reposado tequila for best depth. For a slightly brighter citrus note, express a lime peel over the drink before garnishing.
