Taco Toppings
Method
Prepare the Fillings
- 1
Cook the Chicken
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breast and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked. Remove from heat and shred the chicken.
- 2
Cook the Beef
In a separate skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, approximately 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 3
Season the Fillings
- 4
Season the Chicken
Add half of the taco seasoning to the shredded chicken and mix well. You can add a little water if needed to help the seasoning blend.
- 5
Season the Beef
Sprinkle the remaining taco seasoning over the cooked ground beef. Stir well and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- 6
Season the Beans
Stir in half of the taco seasoning into the warmed black beans and mix until well combined.
Assemble the Tacos
- 7
Warm the Tortillas
In a dry skillet or microwave, warm the tortillas until soft and pliable.
- 8
Fill the Tacos
Place a portion of your choice of filling (chicken, beef, or black beans) onto each tortilla.
- 9
Add Toppings
Top each taco with lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and slices of avocado.
- 10
Serve
Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side, if desired.
