Method

Prepare the Tuna

  1. 1

    Select Quality Tuna

Choose a fresh tuna steak that is bright red and firm to the touch. Ensure it is sushi-grade for safety.

  2. 2

    Slice the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, slice the tuna steak into thin pieces, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Arrange them on a plate.

Make the Marinade

  1. 3

    Combine Marinade Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, fresh lime juice, grated ginger, honey, and minced garlic until well combined.

Marinate the Tuna

  1. 4

    Marinate the Slices

Pour the marinade over the sliced tuna and let it sit for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to penetrate the fish.

Sear the Tuna

  1. 5

    Heat a Pan

Preheat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface if necessary.

  2. 6

    Sear the Tuna

Quickly sear each slice of marinated tuna for about 10-15 seconds on each side. The center should remain rare.

Plate and Garnish

  1. 7

    Arrange on Plate

Carefully arrange the seared tuna slices on a serving platter.

  2. 8

    Add Garnish

Sprinkle with chopped chives, toasted sesame seeds, and place thinly sliced radish on top for added color and crunch.

Serve

  1. 9

    Present the Dish

Serve immediately with extra marinade on the side for dipping, if desired. Enjoy your Nine-Tails Tataki!
