Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place a Champagne flute or coupe in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes, or fill the glass with ice water while you prepare the drink to ensure it is well chilled.
- 2
Measure and add Grand Marnier
Pour 1 tablespoon (about 0.5 oz) of Grand Marnier into the chilled flute. The liqueur provides orange-cognac depth and a pleasant sweetness.
- 3
Add orange juice
Measure and add 3 ounces (about 90 ml) of freshly squeezed orange juice to the flute. Pour gently over the back of a spoon if you prefer to layer slightly, otherwise pour directly.
- 4
Top with sparkling wine
Slowly top the glass with 3 ounces (about 90 ml) of chilled sparkling wine. Pour gently to retain effervescence and to avoid excessive foaming.
- 5
Light stir (optional)
If desired, give the drink one gentle stir with a bar spoon (1–2 turns) to integrate Grand Marnier and juice with the sparkling wine without flattening the bubbles.
- 6
Garnish and serve
Garnish with an orange twist or a thin orange wheel on the rim. Serve immediately while sparkling wine is still fully effervescent.
