Chowder Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same pot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the bacon drippings. Sauté until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Potatoes and Broth

Add the diced potatoes, chicken or seafood broth, salt, black pepper, thyme, and bay leaf to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Seafood and Cream

Stir in the shucked clams, smoked baby shrimp, smoked haddock, sweet corn, and heavy cream. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until everything is heated through.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove bay leaf, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot in bowls, topped with crispy bacon and common crackers.
