Ingredients for Patty Melt
Method
Directions to Prepare Patty Melt
- 1
Prepare the Beef Patty
In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the mixture into a patty.
- 2
Cook the Patty
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the beef patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- 3
Caramelize the Onion
While the patty is cooking, slice the onion. In a separate pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add the sliced onion. Cook on low heat until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- 4
Assemble the Patty Melt
Once the patty is cooked, place it on a slice of rye bread. Top with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread.
- 5
Grill the Patty Melt
In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Grill the sandwich on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 6
Serve
Slice the patty melt in half and serve with your choice of sides and condiments.
