Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling an Old Fashioned glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mixing Glass

In a mixing glass, add the Bulleit Rye, sweet vermouth, and the dashes of Fee Brother's Orange Bitters, Angostura Bitters, and Peychaud's Bitters.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Glass

Remove the Old Fashioned glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Add the absinthe and swirl it around the glass to coat the inside. Discard any excess absinthe.

  5. 5

    Strain the Drink

Strain the chilled rye mixture into the prepared glass over a large ice cube.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express the oil from a strip of lemon peel over the drink and then place it in the glass as a garnish.
