Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash the Berries

Thoroughly rinse the blackberries and blueberries under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Liquid Base

In a large pot, combine the water and apple juice. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the liquid base is boiling, add the blackberries, blueberries, honey, lemon juice, and the cinnamon stick. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld and the berries to soften.

  3. 5

    Strain the Mixture

After simmering, remove the pot from heat. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a pitcher to remove solids.

Serving

  1. 6

    Chill and Serve

Let the cider cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves as desired.
