For Chocolate Lava Cake
- 1
Melt the Chocolate and Butter
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
- 2
Mix the Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 3
- 4
Add Flour
Sift in the all-purpose flour and gently fold it into the batter until just combined.
- 5
- 6
Pour and Bake
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 7
Cool and Serve
Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with whipped cream.
For Whipped Cream

Chill Your Equipment
Place your mixing bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to chill them.
- 9
Combine Ingredients
In the chilled bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- 10
Whip the Cream
Using an electric mixer, beat the cream mixture on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
- 11
Serve
Serve the whipped cream immediately or store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
