Method
Cocktail
- 1
Measure and combine
Chill an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice or placing it in the freezer briefly. In a mixing glass, add 2 oz Maker's 46, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz orange liqueur, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

- 3
Prepare the glass
Discard the ice from the chilled old-fashioned glass. Place one large clear ice cube (or several medium cubes) into the glass.
- 4
Strain
Using a hawthorne or julep strainer, strain the stirred cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared old-fashioned glass over the ice.
- 5
Garnish
Express the oils from an orange peel over the surface of the cocktail by holding the peel with the outer skin facing down and giving it a firm snap about 3–4 inches above the drink. Rub the peel's rim around the glass, then drop the peel into the drink as a garnish.
- 6
Serve immediately and enjoy. Sip slowly to appreciate the oak-forward profile of Maker's 46 balanced by vermouth and the citrus lift from the orange liqueur and expressed peel.

If you prefer a slightly sweeter profile, increase the sweet vermouth to 1.25 oz. To adjust strength, modify the bourbon by ±0.25 oz. Use freshly chilled equipment for best results.
