Begin by rinsing a chilled old-fashioned glass with absinthe. Swirl the absinthe around the glass to coat the inside, then discard the excess.

In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the Jim Bean Rye, Peychaud Bitters, and simple syrup. Stir well until chilled.

Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over a king cube of ice.
