1. Make the Donut Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then gently fold in the blueberries.
3. Bake the Donuts
Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly before removing from the pan.
4. Make the Blueberry Compote
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/4 cup of water. Cook until the blueberries break down and the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
5. Serve
Serve the warm donuts drizzled with the homemade blueberry compote.
