Start by rimming your glass with salt. To do this, run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a small plate of salt until evenly coated.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
