Ranch Dressing
Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Add Buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk to the dry mixture, and stir until a smooth batter forms.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickles in the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Ranch Dressing
- 8
Combine Ingredients
In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 9
Mix Well
Stir until all ingredients are well combined and the dressing is smooth.
- 10
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld. Serve alongside the fried pickles.
