Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined. Add the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, then mix until just blended.

  5. 5

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour, tapping out the excess. This will help the cakes release easily after baking.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute before carefully inverting them onto plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
