Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes, remove the stems, and dice them into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Chop the Basil

Wash the basil leaves and chop them finely.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic

Peel and mince the garlic cloves.

  4. 4

    Mix the Topping

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Preparing the Bread

  1. 5

    Slice the Baguette

Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Toast the Bread

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush one side with olive oil. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Top the Bread

Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture generously on top of the toasted side of each slice.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm.
