Method
Prepare the Burger Patty
- 1
Season the Meat
In a large bowl, combine the ground sirloin, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, approximately 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cook the Patties

- 4
Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger reaches your desired doneness.
Sauté the Vegetables
- 5
Prepare the Buns
- 6
Make the Bun Spread
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until well combined.
- 7
Toast the Buns
If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
Assemble the Burger
- 8
Build the Burger
Spread the mayonnaise-Dijon mixture on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and slices of avocado on top. Finish with the top half of the bun.
