Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.

Add Boiling Water
Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.

Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting
In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter with an electric mixer until creamy.

Add Cocoa Powder
Gradually add the cocoa powder and beat until combined.

Mix in the vanilla extract and beat until the frosting is fluffy and well combined.
