Method
For the Chicken Tenders
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken tenders to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
In a separate bowl, place the all-purpose flour. Remove the chicken from the marinade and dredge each piece in the flour until fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken tenders. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Waffles
- 5
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- 6
- 7
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are fine.
- 8
Cook the Waffles
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the iron and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
For Serving
- 9
Plate the Dish
Place a waffle on a plate, top with a few crispy chicken tenders, and drizzle generously with maple syrup.
- 10
Garnish
Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top for an added touch of sweetness, if desired.
