Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Soy Glaze

  1. 1

    Make the Soy Glaze

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 2

    Thicken the Glaze

In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the saucepan while stirring continuously. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking Tuna Steak

  1. 3

    Prepare Tuna Steaks

Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  3. 5

    Sear the Tuna

Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the skillet. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side, depending on your desired doneness (1 minute for rare, 2 minutes for medium).

  4. 6

    Drizzle with Glaze

Once seared, remove the tuna steaks from the skillet and place them on a serving plate. Drizzle the prepared soy glaze over the steaks.
