Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crab Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the chopped parsley for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Form the Crab Cakes

Using your hands, form the crab mixture into patties, about 3-4 inches in diameter. Place the formed crab cakes on a plate or baking sheet.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Make sure the oil is hot but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Fry the Crab Cakes

Carefully place the crab cakes in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 5

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
