Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together using a double boiler or microwave until smooth, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Once combined, add in the melted chocolate and butter mixture and stir until well mixed.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs

Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.

  5. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the chocolate mixture, folding gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Add Vanilla and Nuts

Stir in the vanilla extract and chopped nuts (if using).

  7. 7

    Bake

Pour the batter into a greased and lined baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve.
