Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ramekins

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour. Tap out any excess flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix the Batter

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until well combined. Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture and mix until smooth. Gently fold in the flour and a pinch of salt until just combined.

  4. 4

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  5. 5

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift to release the cake. Serve immediately, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
