Method
Prep Fruit Concentrate
- 1
Make raspberry-lemon concentrate
Place the fresh raspberries, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a small saucepan or mixing bowl. If using a saucepan, warm gently over low heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until raspberries begin to break down and release juices. If using a bowl, muddle the raspberries with a fork or muddler until pulpy. Remove from heat (if warmed).
- 2
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing on solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Discard seeds and solids. Stir in the lemon zest if using. You should end up with about 1/3–1/2 cup of concentrated fruit syrup.
- 3
Taste the concentrate and adjust sweetness with additional simple syrup (add 1/2 tbs at a time) so it is pleasantly tart-sweet; it should be stronger than you want the final drink since it will be diluted with seltzer.
Dissolve Magnesium & Adaptogens
- 4
Measure supplements correctly
Confirm label dosing for the magnesium citrate, ashwagandha, and any other adaptogen you are using. The recipe uses 150 mg magnesium citrate, 300 mg ashwagandha, 50 mg l-theanine and 50 mg rhodiola as safe example doses; adjust per product instructions and personal tolerance or a healthcare professional's advice.
- 5
If you have powdered forms: dissolve the magnesium citrate powder and powdered adaptogens in 2–3 tablespoons (30–45 ml) of warm water from the kettle, stirring until fully dissolved. If you are using tinctures: add appropriate drops directly to the warm water. Warm water helps the powders dissolve and disperse evenly in the final drink.
- 6
Taste the solution. Some powders are bitter; if bitterness is noticeable, add an additional 1/2–1 tbs simple syrup to the concentrate (not more than needed) or increase the raspberry concentrate slightly to balance flavor.
Assemble the Seltzer
- 7
Fill a large pitcher or two serving glasses with ice (about 1 cup ice per two servings).
- 8
Pour the fruit concentrate into the pitcher (about 1/3–1/2 cup). Add the dissolved magnesium/adaptogen solution and stir gently to combine.
- 9
Add 4 cups carbonated water and 1 cup sparkling mineral water (if using) slowly to preserve carbonation. Stir once gently with a long spoon to integrate without flattening the seltzer.
- 10
Taste and adjust: if too tart, add up to 1 additional tablespoon simple syrup. If too weak, add an extra 1–2 tablespoons of the raspberry concentrate.
Finish & Serve
- 11
- 12
Serve immediately so the drink stays fizzy. Stir lightly before each sip to ensure even distribution of adaptogens and magnesium.
- 13
Store any leftover seltzer (un-garnished) in a sealed bottle in the refrigerator and consume within 24 hours. Recarbonation will be limited; shake gently before opening to mix settled components.
