Seltzer Base

Method

Make Pomegranate‑Hibiscus Concentrate

  1. 1

    Steep hibiscus

Combine 1 cup water and 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer 3 minutes to extract color and flavor.

  2. 2

    Sweeten and combine

Remove from heat and stir in 3 teaspoons granulated sugar (or equivalent simple syrup) until dissolved. Let the hibiscus steep off heat for 8 minutes to deepen flavor, then strain into a measuring cup, pressing solids to extract liquid. Add 1 cup pomegranate juice and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice to the strained hibiscus liquid and stir to combine. Chill concentrate in refrigerator for at least 10 minutes (can be made up to 24 hours ahead).

Prepare Herbal Adaptogen Blend

  1. 3

    Bruise lemon balm

Lightly bruise 6 lemon balm leaves between your fingers to release oils. Place the leaves in a small bowl or cup.

  2. 4

    Combine adaptogens

Add 1 teaspoon liquid ginseng extract, 1/2 teaspoon ashwagandha (tincture or dissolved powder), and 1/4 teaspoon mushroom tincture to the lemon balm. Stir gently and let sit for 3–5 minutes so the alcohol or glycerin carrier slightly melds with the lemon balm oils. Taste a drop and adjust to preference — reduce amounts if very bitter.

Assemble Hemp Seltzer

  1. 5

Fill two tall glasses evenly with ice (about 1/2 cup ice per glass).

  2. 6

Measure 1/3 cup of the chilled pomegranate‑hibiscus concentrate per glass (total 2/3 cup for two servings). Pour the concentrate over the ice in each glass.

  3. 7

Divide the herbal adaptogen blend between the two glasses: pour half the lemon balm and tincture mix into each glass. Give each glass a gentle stir to distribute the adaptogens through the concentrate.

  4. 8

Add 2 cups chilled sparkling water to each glass slowly (4 cups total divided between two glasses). If you prefer higher carbonation or a lighter flavor, top each glass with an extra 1/2 cup carbonated water or club soda.

  5. 9

Add 1/4 teaspoon hemp extract (broad‑spectrum CBD or hemp tincture) per glass (total 1/2 tsp divided). If using a dropper, count drops according to product potency; follow dosing guidance on the product label. Stir gently but briefly to avoid losing carbonation.

  6. 10

Garnish each glass with thin lemon peel strips and 1 tablespoon pomegranate arils. Optionally tuck a bruised lemon balm leaf into the drink for aroma.

  7. 11

Serve immediately while sparkling. Stir just before sipping to redistribute any settled tinctures.
