Add the Tomatoes
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Cook the Spaghetti
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Combine
Once the sauce has thickened, stir in the fresh basil. If using meatballs or meat sauce, add it to the marinara sauce and mix well.

Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with marinara sauce, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy with a side of garden or Caesar salad and bread.
