Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

In a medium bowl, toss the fresh berries with lemon juice, cornstarch, and brown sugar until the berries are well coated.

Spread half of the batter in the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute the berry filling over the batter, then top with the remaining batter.
