Enchilada Filling and Sauce

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef Filling

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Seasoning

Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes to toast the spices.

  3. 3

    Add Tomato Sauce

Pour in the tomato sauce and mix well. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Enchiladas

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a small amount of the beef mixture in a tortilla, sprinkle with cheese, roll it up, and place it seam-side down in a baking dish. Repeat until all tortillas are filled.

  5. 5

    Add Remaining Sauce

Pour any remaining beef mixture over the top of the enchiladas and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

  6. 6

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
