In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined.

Prepare the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, making them slightly larger than the burger buns.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
