Coddled Eggs

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coddling Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease 4 coddling dishes or ramekins with butter.

  2. 2

    Add Ingredients

Crack one egg into each coddling dish. Add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream on top of each egg. Season with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Coddle the Eggs

Place the coddling dishes in a baking dish filled with hot water, ensuring that the water reaches halfway up the sides of the coddling dishes. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the whites are set but the yolks are still soft.

  4. 4

    Cook the Bacon or Sausage

While the eggs are coddling, cook the bacon or sausage in a skillet over medium heat until crispy or browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Toast the Bread

In the same skillet, toast the bread slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Cut into points.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once the eggs are done, carefully remove them from the oven. Serve immediately with toast points and the choice of bacon or sausage.
