Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Cut Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, cut the potatoes into waffle-shaped fries. Aim for about 1/2-inch thick slices.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes into a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the waffle fries.

  2. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 5

    Season the Potatoes

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dried potato pieces with olive oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss until all the fries are evenly coated with the seasoning.

  4. 6

    Bake the Fries

Spread the seasoned waffle fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. 7

    Serve

Once baked, remove the waffle fries from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
