Rib Preparation

Method

Rib Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better seasoning and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring to cover both sides.

BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, hot sauce, and salt. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Heat the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Bake the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.

  2. 6

    Glaze the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully take off the top layer of foil. Brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs.

  3. 7

    Finish the Ribs

Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven uncovered. Bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting with more BBQ sauce halfway through.

  4. 8

    Rest and Serve

Once done, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
