Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks. This helps with even cooking.
- 2
Mix the Dry Rub
In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar. Rub this mixture evenly over the pork pieces.
Cooking
- 3
Cook the Pork
Place the pork shoulder chunks in a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar and half of the BBQ sauce over the meat. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shred with a fork.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 5
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining BBQ sauce. Let it warm for an additional 10-15 minutes.
Serving
- 6
Assemble the Sandwiches
Scoop a generous portion of the pulled pork onto each bun. Optionally top with coleslaw or pickles for added flavor and crunch.
- 7
Serve
Serve warm with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
