Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, and 0.5 tsp of salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugars

In a separate bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 0.75 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.75 cups of brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, along with 1 tsp of vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Add Mix-ins

Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips and, if desired, 0.5 cups of chopped nuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Scoop and Shape

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

  2. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  3. 9

    Cool

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
