Method

Baking the Cake

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Making the Frosting

  1. 7

    Beat the Butter

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter with an electric mixer until creamy and smooth.

  2. 8

    Add Sugar and Milk

Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, and mix until combined and fluffy.

  3. 9

    Flavor the Frosting

Mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated and the frosting is light and airy.

Assembling the Dessert

  1. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides using a spatula.

  2. 11

    Serve

Slice the cake into pieces and serve as a delightful dessert to finish your meal.
