Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, which is normal.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Chocolate Ganache Preparation

  1. 8

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  2. 9

    Mix with Chocolate

Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  3. 10

    Stir the Ganache

Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Allow it to cool slightly before using.

Assembly

  1. 11

    Layer the Cakes

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of ganache on top.

  2. 12

    Top with Second Layer

Place the second cake layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the entire cake, letting it drip down the sides.

  3. 13

    Serve

Allow the ganache to set for a few minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy your rich chocolate cake!
