Method

Preparing the Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bread pudding.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Bread and Mixture

Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes, gently folding to ensure all bread pieces are coated. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the mixture.

  5. 5

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour the bread mixture into it, spreading it evenly.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Making the Bourbon Sauce

  1. 7

    Melt Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 8

    Add Sugar and Cream

Once the butter is melted, add granulated sugar and heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and begins to simmer.

  3. 9

    Mix in Bourbon

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bourbon until fully incorporated.

  4. 10

    Serve Sauce Warm

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving over the warm bread pudding.
